Good Morning, I am a new user to this forum as of today. I'm Kim, an IT professional with 15 years experience. I have a bachelor's degree in IT and certifications from Microsoft, CompTia and CIW.

Review of the Le Pan TC970 Tablet (I purchased my sister's from Tiger Direct 09/2011 and mine from Amazon 11/2011)
The Le Pan TC970 tablet is on sale now for 182 + Shipping & 198.99 free shipping on Amazon. I've purchased 2 of these and 3 of my co-workers have purchased them and are completely loving the Le Pan. I do have a few minor gripes about it but it really boils down to what you plan to do with the tablet.
I bought one in September for my sister for her birthday at the 279 price from Tiger Direct. I received the tablet the very next day since I'm in GA and TD has a warehouse here. This tablet is made with high quality materials. The capacitative touch screen responds wonderfully. It only comes with a small amount of memory (2GB built-in and a 2GB micro SD expandable to 32GB) but all of my experiences with the tablet have been great and were only with the original memory. I purchased a 32 GB card for mine but it hasn't arrived yet. I imediately fell in love with this tablet and almost didn't give it to my sister for her birthday.
What I've personally experienced:
It works well with playing movies (I'm a netflix subscriber)
I've loaded hundreds of ebooks that I've used with the included ereader and Kindle successfully.
I've downloaded a ton of games such as cordy, 3 versions of angry bird, talking tom, tetris, bejeweled, words with friends, and many more.
I setup multiple yahoo email accounts, gmail and hotmail accounts on it and even downloaded a vpn app (Junos Pulse) that allows me to access my work email and calendar.
I've downloaded free productivity apps that allow me to view different file types successfully.
Keep in mind that some apps will run without being connected to the internet while others do require internet access.
Gripes:
If you need a constant internet connection while traveling, this tablet probably isn't for you. Having 3G enables you to pay a monthly subscription that gives you constant internet access. Wifi works for me so I have no need for this.
It is only wifi, however, I'm the IT person at my job and I know the wifi password (haha which is not distributed to staff).
I'm working on trying to tether it to my cell phone for internet access which I have done in the past with my Windows 7 laptop.
The issue I'm having with tethering via USB is that the Le Pan has a proprietary usb port/cable which is used for charging and connection to the pc but no additional standard usb ports that would allow a device to be connected to it. I'm exploring finding a usb adapter/converter that I can attach to the le pan cable in order to have my cell phone be able to attach directly to the le pan for tethering. I'm also looking at Bluetooth tethering which i've heard is slower than USB. I've ordered an adapter from Amazon for $2. I'll let you know if it works to allow me to USB tether.
I have WIFI at home and work so there are rare occasions that I'd need to tether anyway.
The camera isn't all that great for taking pics but it's not what I bought it for anyway. I have a digital camera that I used for that. It would be fine for skyping though I haven't tried it yet.
The built-in speaker isn't great either but when I use earphones, the sound is fine.
Accessories:
I bought a Khomo leatherette folio/stand (it's for iPad 2) that works perfectly with my Le Pan tablet. I bought one for my sister's tablet and my co-workers also purchased the same tablet cover. It was only 5.99 on Amazon and I got free shipping since I paired it with other items and my order total was over $25
A company called POSRUS is now selling a screen protector for the Le Pan which I've purchased as well.
FYI, all of my co-workers that have the tablet are beginning users as well as my sister. I've been in the IT field for 15 years but wouldn't consider myself a gadget person though I do have computers in every room of my home, smartphone, iPod, iMac, G5 and now the Le Pan Tablet.

For the Coby device, it lists AppLib for apps as opposed to Le Pan has the android market app built right in so for Le Pan you get to go straight to the source for apps.
I couldn't see the input details for the Coby tablet so I don't know if it has additional ports in comparison to the Le Pan tablet.
Based on Amazon reviews the Coby Mid 1125 has an average of 3.5 stars from 5 reviews submitted while the Le Pan has 4.5 stars and 75 reviews.

Hope you don't mind me answering. I am not ladyk or any lady at all. I had the Le Pan TC-970 and it was totally amazing compared to my Barnes and Noble NookColor which I modded, my Viewsonic which is still waiting to be converted to another mod from the one I am stuck in and DOES NOT come with Android Marketplace.
Since Android Market is Google's spot they have way more apps than anywhere else and many many free. I have not paid more than a dollar or two total for about 2 apps that I wanted to upgrade.
The sound is even amazing for a tablet.
At the beginning, I had lots of forced closes every time I turned it on. That was disappointing. Went to the Le Pan website in CA and there was an upgrade. After upgrading hardly ever noticed any problems.
Then stupid me I left it in a Timmy's or Zellers and it walked away. Frustrating thing is that the battery will die and it will be useless to the thief. It will probably end up in the garbage somewhere because he won't be able to recharge it. Recharging is totally non-standard cable even tho it looks like an iPad cable.
I found the metal back construction to give a much more solid feel than most other tablets I have played with in the stores.
I have ordered the new Le Pan II which was in BestBuy.com and Amazon.ca. However out of stock both places. I ordered it from Amazon.ca for $279.xx. They will email me when it comes in. It is faster 1.2 Mhz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and internal ram upgraded to 8GB instead of 2. Also forgot to say it comes with HoneyComb .... I believe HoneyComb if memory serves me was designed for tablets rather than the previous Android OS's which were designed for smartphones.
Also iPad cases fit it. Some will cover the charging slot like mine did but it had 3 troughs so that I could fold it and display it at any one of 3 angles. And when using it, the touches did not knock it over. I found the case in Zellers in Welland for $15.xx. The name brand is i-con and is called 3-step Book. Sold by Alliance Sales and Distribution in Stratford ON.
I found the stand more than adequate and even better than the much more expensive iPad cases I looked at.

I can't speak for the Coby, (though I do have the 7" 7022) but I've had the Le Pan for a week now and the one thing I am amazed at is the battery life. The screen is nice and bright, the apps are really smooth when scrolling, so far I have not had any hangups whatsoever. Yesterday I was on a day trip (about 3 hrs. each way) an I had my tablet on all day. (6 am. to midnite when i got home). My grandson played angry birds 3 hrs. straight (non stop i might add) and I surfed for 3hrs while my wife shopped at the mall, plus we managed to watch a movie on the way home...about 2hrs. plus more angry bird..today I have used the tablet most of the day on and off and I still have 45% battery left...and I still haven't charged it. It also connected by bluetooth in my car with no problem...haven't had a chance to see if i can tether to my phone..but thats next...also, the os may not be upgraded to 3.0 but for my needs..2.2 is fine. all in all, no complaints..this is a keeper...I did try the skype app and it worked fine. The only change I did was the system upgrade with no problem..fixed the reverse look on the camera. No problems with yahoo and google mail...pandora works great.....rooting is available for this tablet, but haven't found a good reason to do it..works fine the way it is.

I bought the coby 1125 because of the 10.5" capacitive screen. it is a letterbox shape heavy and difficult to hold comfortably. I knew it didn't have the android market on it but figured i could add it via one of the forums. I then discovered the le pan. Returned the coby and never looked back. The le pan is far superior to the coby. Viewing angle on the coby is limited it is heavy and no market. It does have HDMI out. Le pan is pure joy.

I have the Kyros 1125. It is my first tablet, so I don't know much about the others. I does not support Netflix and I have had some issues with Facebook, but other than that, I love it. I keep it with me at all times
