Root Cognition 3.0

I'v been looking at this one as well, due to the fact it's built on Roger's, which is supposedly the exact same hardware (except for the Roger's logo at the top I presume).

I flashed Cog 3.10 yesterday and everything is great. Quadrant scores are double the stock Captivate. It just makes everything better without adding radical kernels and overclocking. Very stable. GPS locks on in seconds from inside the house. Thank you, thank you. The only thing I see is that you can't voice dial with a bluetooth headset but I don't think I could before with the stock ROM. Bluetooth works great otherwise. Other roms I flashed were Cog 2.3b8 (nice) and Perception 10.1 (super fast, firebird kernel, enhanced 3.5G but wasn't really for the Captivate. For example you could make video calls but Captivate doesn't have a rear facing camera. I'm much happier with Cog 3.10. It's like the way a stock Captivate should be.

I flashed this as my first rom. Followed the how-to videos at XDA exactly. I'm quite happy with it. I got sick of waiting for AT&T & Samsung. I've been reading these forums every day hoping for signs of 2.2, and what do we have? Still absolutely no word on anything official from them. I was more comfortable with the cognition release because it was based on the Canadian Captivate.

The music search bug with the Samsung player is now totally fixed, you can copy text in gmail messages, google maps 5.0 works tons better and you can rotate it. And because of the voodoo lagfix included, there isn't this lag problem for me anymore.

Also the 2.2 clock app seems better because now there is automatic daylight savings time adjustments for the world clock (before you had to somehow know when a country went on or off).

I flashed it yesterday as well. I love it, except that I can't seem to answer calls! I keep getting a message box to force close the program! And the call gets cut off. It doesn't even give me the caller ID

I'm having the same problem -- can make, but not answer calls (get a force close message and phone app crashes). Anyone know of a solution?

If you are using Titanium backup, don't restore the dialer or most other system settings. When I restore I only restore missing applications and settings and then my Bluetooth settings.

I used ROM Manager to flash from stock to Cog v2.3b8 and would like to upgrade to the new version. Is the best way to use ROM manager again or is there a better/safer way?

(Am a bit of a newbie to this stuff so sorry for the ignorance in advance!!!)

Thanks.

when 3.05 comes out, how do I go about and flash it when I have 3.04? I only flashed 3.04 last night and it took me more than 5 hours to get the free titanium backup to work properly. would i need to go back to stock firmware and start all over again?

The developer may offer a step upgrade, best to go to his thread and check the first post.

3.04. My gps worked fine the first day. Hasn't worked since.

Same thing with me. Not sure what the difference between Cog 3.04 and the stock AT&T eclair if the GPS isnt fixed. I flashed to 3.04 last night and besides some better UI and speed, I don't see how its much more useful if you're not into fully customizing your phone =/
