Root cognition 3.04v

alright guys im new to flashing roms lastnight i flashed 3.04 cognition i had some issues with recieveing incoming calls texting worked fine also the home button was dead i had to keep using the back key to get home. is there a way to fix this i really loved the rom just not those issues? thanks guys for all the help!!

I had similar issue. I couldn't make calls. Probably what happened is you installed cog, then reinstalled all your files and folders including the ones with android system files in it. They are conflicting with the cognition. I had to reinstall cognition and only put things like pictures etc. back on.

Hope this helps, good luck

oh ok thats pry what happened then cause i used titanum back up and restored all items. ill try it again what cognition would you recommend for the captivate i just want it smooth close to stock? do you think that was the same issue for the home key?

I just did a flash to cog 3.04 last night, and used TB using only the restore missing apps option. I guess that doesn't restore any settings or data for the rest of the apps but in my case it didn't matter because I had not done much with apps anyway. In fact I could have easily just not restored anything since I saved contacts to the SIM card and all my email is on gmail, and media backup/restore doesn't require TB. Anyway like art said you definitely do not want to restore system files.

Without using titanium backup, I had issues with my contacts. All of my contacts have been saved to google. Random contacts are missing from my list now. When I get calls from them, the name still shows... but they are not on the list.

Anyone else have this bug?

Probably a bad flash. Try re-flashing, see if that helps.
Came over from FireFly v2.0.5 and haven't had any issues. My battery seems to last now, unlike Firefly where I was down to 50% in 3 hours!!! Only thing is that Cog is a little slower. But rather have that than having the battery issue.

I like everything about it except my battery life is now crap. I am losing 10% and hour and not even using the phone. I have all my settings the same as before. I was getting 2 days on one charge. I don't understand why the difference now but it stinks.

yea my battery life hasn't really changed from the stock AT&T eclair...actually i think its a little worse now that i flash cog 3.04

Update, I uninstalled all the auto killer, 3gwatchdog, all battery widgets and anything else that I could think I could do without. Then I installed battery doctor. So far I am at 80% and started using the phone at 7am this morning, I can live with that kind of battery life. I like everything else about 3.04 and it was very easy to go through the process.

im having a similar problem. i backed up using T/B and followed the directions off a video and restored what im assuming was too much. Everything runs smoothly but the only problem is incoming calls are messed up. outgoing calls are okay tho. I dont think I got GPS to work at all either.

I had the same issues. Just run everything again, but do not restore the system apps. I used AppBrain and reinstall all your apps. And then restored DATA ONLY (one app at a time, as needed) for all those games and apps that I needed to restore settings and data like Memo, ServeStream, Angry Birds, etc.

Good luck.

so i went back home and worked on it all over again. and this time i pick and chose certain data files along with my apps and everything works fine..

minus the GPS.

Go into contacts, press menu -> more -> display options
check off which contact lists you want displayed.
I like to have all my contacts on my SIM card, but I copy them
to the phone and hide the SIM contacts, so that next time I do
something I only have to restore contacts off the SIM card.
This also will help if you ever get another phone.

Just flashed cog3.04 using clockwork mod. When it first booted "usb connected" kept flashing on and off, even though it was not usb connected. I thought maybe actually connecting via usb would make it go away, but it didnt. The phone wouldn't even mount to the computer.

My next step was a magic restart. That didnt work so i didnt another magic restart and suddenly the usb connected message went away. I am also able to successfully mount the phone to my computer now. haven't noticed any other issues yet. If too many bugs show up I'm going back to cog2.3b8. I had no issues with that rom.

I just flashed Cog 3.4. It went perfectly. No problems at all thanks to this tool: [PROGRAM] AIO Captivate Toolbox 2.5 (Rogers Fixed!) *Beginners/Advanced Start Here* - xda-developers

I went in order, Backed up > Flashed to Stock > Master Clear > Root > Flash Cog > Restore > Enjoy! Took 21 minutes, I timed it.

One reason you might be having problems is if you flashed over your current ROM even if its the stock updated ROM (2.1-update1). They always recommend you go back to full stock. And as an extra measure I did a Master Clear (you don't really have too).

Use the AIO tool it helps!!!!!
