Root Cognition to Serendpity

hey I"m running cog 2.xb7 right now. I want to install serendpity 5.12. Should I flash to root first? Or flash to stock (how do i flash to stock?) ? Also I have a mac, so I can't use ODIN. I can't find any instructions for serendpity as i did for cognition. thanks!

I also read somewhere that you shouldn't use clockwork mod.. ?

You probably don't HAVE to go back to stock, but it is recommended. As for you being on a Mac and therefore no ODIN, I can't help you at all. You CAN use CWM with Serendipity.
