Root Color Banding on ICS and JB

I noticed some severe color banding on the system gradients under both ICS and JB (I originally flashed the stock 4.0.3 but then decided I really wanted the Jelly Bean notifications so I moved to CM 10). I found the settings for surface improvements and color banding under the performance settings but I've gone through all of those options and none of them seem to fix the color banding issue. It only happens on system gradients (the ending blue fade of a scrolling list, the settings page of the Gmail app). It's not a big deal but it's kind of been bugging me since I noticed it and I can't seem to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm seeing it as well. Tested the stock jelly bean wallpaper and am getting bands where the colors start to merge.

I never noticed it on the stock wallpaper before, just tested it and found that it does happen there for me too. I don't see it in screenshots, which is the same as with many other people's color banding problems on other phones. Is there any way of fixing it on the stock theme without installing another theme?
