Root Colored Notification Icons?

From what I've gathered it's ROM specific. The ROM would have to have them baked into it. If you know how to bake a ROM then I'd say it's within the realm of possibility since it's already been done there. From what I've read, it's not something that can be added to any ROM, maybe I'm wrong. I'd LOVE to have them as well. I've been following that thread for a while. Most of it seems over my head though.

Me too.

However in the thread you posted, I did get the Messages Icon to show when I get a text message using Metamorph. The gmail one did not apply :(

I used Ninja Morph to change my gmail icon.
Start a new project and it's in system/app/Gmail.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/stat_notify_email.png Click it and replace it with your own icon with the same name (stat_notify_email.png, I have a folder on the SDCard called "Icons" for all my stuff, makes it easy to work with) and then click Finish Project, click Gmail.apk, wait forever, then reboot once it's finished.
