Help com.android.email is hammering my resources

com.android.email (android email app) has been hammering my system constantly today; Using about 35-50% of my CPU; Several reboots, it's still doing it. I kill it and it restarts and goes back to hogging the resources. I finally froze it and my speed increased about 2 fold. The only thing I did different today was install SManager and delete the log files in /data.
Diagnosis logged it 105 times in about 20 minutes...

I did virus scans internally and externally and didn't find anything.

Any ideas??

Here's a picture from the diagnosis log:

is it the email app or the gmail app?

did either of those recently update?

try removing one of them, testing, and if its still there, remove the other app.

look at the facts and tackle the problem slowly and you will find it.

whatever it is, its not that common. ive never seen it myself.

1) /data/app/email.apk

2) No recent update

Right now, it's behaving normally again; I seeing activity every 15 minutes as it does an email check.

Here's the log (again) 84% of my CPU and 500+ logged entries in a fairly small time frame as compared to the android.launcher that was only seen 13 times.

the default android Email app is like Internet Explorer on windows PCs.

that is, most people do NOT use it.

even google barely gives two craps about it.

avoid it, sign into your gmail with Gmail app, its MUCH better.

and if you are using an email that isnt gmail.... well... shame on you. unless of course its a work email, in THAT case, you can sign into it with a 3rd party email app from the Play Store. like K9 mail i think is one of them? other people can recommend good email apps

the fact of the matter is, avoid the stock email app, you see for yourself its nothing but problems. you wont lose anything by deleting it, trying another free app and seeing if the problem goes away. and if it DOES, youll have solved your problem at no cost. in which case everyone wins.

logic prevails, do it or suffer. i see too many people who get good advice, dont heed it, still have their problem, and wonder why they have the same problem. becuase they never DID anything about it.
