as you can tell I was tired last night, I didn't root last night. I rooted months ago but I flashed a new ROM. Vol. down and power = screenshot. System UI crashed now as well. Would it be because I restored my apps and missing data including system UI and the such?
I have a rooted DHD and I flashed a ROM last night. I then restored the missing apps and data from Titanium backup. I chose to download the system UI and services because I wasn't sure what to do. The phone then displayed the message;
.com.android.settings has stopped (or similar)
later - .com.android.systemUI stopped
I restarted the phone and now it won't start up again. It just restarts over and over. Rarely displaying the messages now. (hasn't for last 10 odd tries)
Toby - I am just about to leave work, but will try and help you out when I get home (unless someone else gets in there before I manage to get back online)!
If you restored the data for system apps, it can cause issues. Did you back your old ROM up before flashing the new one (which you are having issues with)? You could try restoring your backup to see if it goes back to your old setup and has no issues.
If you don't have a backup, your best bet would be to get in to recovery and perform full wipes (cache/data/dalvic). Then re-flash the ROM - see if you are able to get that working. If you are able to get in to the ROM, then go to restore data... making sure not to restore system data.
I am now back on my old ROM and all is working okay. Do you suggest I re-run the new ROM? What wipes if any should be performed? and then to not restore the system files?
Yeah... I'd go for re-flashing the "problem" ROM. When in recovery, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.
When it comes to restoring app data with TB, only restore app data... it's the safest way... system data can cause issues. It is (sometimes) ok to restore system data (if you go from a ROM to a newer revision of that ROM, it can be ok, but I've not really restored system data myself)
Your apps are backed up through Google Play. When you log in to Google Play, hit menu and then select my apps. This will show you all apps you have downloaded and you can re-download them
Virtuous Infinity is a rather laggy ROM. If you want full Sense 4, try ViperDHD. It is a bit faster. Personally, I find all full Sense 4 ROM's a bit slow.
If you want to stay with a HTC look I would recommend Sabsa Prime (Sense 4 Lite+) or Blackout ICS (if you can live without a WiFi hotspot)...
Honestly these days, trying on of the Nexus like Jelly Bean ROM's seems more stable than the Modified HTC Ones.
