what the heck is this? after I rooted, a green square with the name 0.0dip (by HTC) started showing up in my widget list

I select it and it just immediately says: The process com.htc.RosieUtility has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

I take it you have removed an .apk?
go to settings, applications, manage apps and clear the data of htcsense. it will delete your settings for your homescreens but it will fix it.

delete my homescreen settings? all of them?

that's not worth getting rid of one silly fake widget

Rosie is HTC Sense. It's what makes it go.

If you removed .apks you've got the fake widgets. I don't know if it's from not removing the widgets with the .apks or not but I had them.
