Hi folks! I am going to disable Samsung update, it is annoying me a little bit.

Does anyone reckon we need any update for Android?

Let me know what you think...

Peace

it depends what phone you have. updates can bring added security or fix bugs.

just curious as to why you do not want updates?

Can you explain a bit about what annoys you? Perhaps there are settings you can change that will stop those annoyances, yet not lose the important functions behind them.

Yes. As others have said, updates are beneficial and help keep your device safe and secure. Disabling them is not, in my opinion, a wise choice, unless you're not using your phone online at all.

Updates bring update security but also a bunch of bad codes to slowly damage your phones.

I reckon it is obvious Samsung, Apple, LG and all of companies do not want you have a device forever, that is the reason.

I recommend you spend a bit of time searching about the bad side of getting updates.

Peace.

how long do you plan on keeping your phone? i upgrade every two years or so. plus they only send updates every so often.and most manufacturers only provide support for about two years before moving on. i have never had a phone damaged from an update. maybe some issue that either get fixed by another update or a factory reset fixes things up nicely.....no research is required.

Yeah, that must explain why my five-year-old Moto X 2nd Generation keeps humming along. I use it often [on Wi-Fi], along with my much newer Moto Z² Force Edition.

My experience speaks for itself--like my 5-year-old Moto X that just keeps cranking away. :)

Yeah, I typically keep a phone for about 4 years, and have been using Android for the whole of the decade. So obviously I have no experience of what updates do and need to do some research into how they are designed to degrade my phone to stop me using it for more than a year or two.

I'm going to go to somewhere more serious, like the flat Earth thread...

I've cleaned this thread up and removed unnecessary static. Please carry on like the civil and loving Android Forumers we are. :) Love to all!
