You wanna remove the email account from the phone?
Or just have it stop notifying you when you get an email?
Or not check unless you manually check it?


You can do the 3

Open Email-->Press Menu-->Accounts-->Press and hold the account you want to modify

Account Settings-->Under "Email Check frequency, change it to Manual.


If it regarding Gmail, you cannot remove the 1st account you setup on the phone, but you can disable the email sync:

Settings-->Accounts and sync and disable the sync
