Coming Back Over

Let's see. I bought the original Droid on launch day. Had Droid X, Droid 2, HTC Incredible, Thunderbolt, and Droid X2. Then, a bit over a year ago, I switched to an iPhone 4s. Why? Eh, I wanted to try it. I was switching to AT&T (the only decent phone coverage in my area at the time) and I didn't like their Android selections.

Well, I quickly was bored with Apple. All my Android devices had been rooted and while I didn't do nearly as much as some of you do, I had truly customized devices. Not so much with my 4s. But I got used to it. Well, I moved again and decided to switch phone companies. I went prepaid with T-Mo and decided in the meantime to switch back to Android.

I played with a lot of phones and ultimately went with the Galaxy S3. I must say I like this phone. I haven't followed much on Android lately so I look forward to learning about where it is and where it is going!

Welcome to the forum Labyrinthine.

I'd say you made the right choice this phone's an awesome bit of kit, I'm sure you went be disappointed. Enjoy your new toy:)

Thanks.

I just got done rooting the beast, which was simple as I remember.

And now I need to find the right customizations. It has been awhile since I did all this so I'm still playing catch up.

Are you going to stick with the stock ROM for now or are you looking to move to a custom right away?

Stock TW is really good tbh or roms heavily based on it.
I dont think theres any non TW roms ready for day to day use with everything working? Im sure Cyanogen will get there if they havent already...

Agreed, stock has come a long way! I haven't used any others but I can speak to Cyanogennod 10.0 is very stable. I've been using it for a couple months now. Will say I've been tempted to go back to stock just for a change up!

Do all the essentials (cam, wifi, BT, etc) work on CM mate?
Im lookin for something to try on dual boot. TW is just so good day to day with a clockable kernel (i use Siyah)

Stable release 10.0 is as smooth as it comes. Feels very close to using a nexus device. Camera, video, BT, WiFi all works without issue! Call quality and pretty much anything else is top notch. No screen flickers or the common ROM problems. They have nightlies of 10.1 which is built on 4.2.1 but I've had problems with data connection, etc when using the nightly builds. I would highly recommend at least giving it a try sometime.

Thanks buddy and i will do n get back to you.
In all my years of android, ive never used a CM rom :)
How does it benchmark vs TW btw?

Just realised im in main forum n not the gt-i9300 lol. Im on an international so i suppose the cm10 for me is at a completely different stage.
Ill have to look into it :)

Haha good point, I'm running the i747 AT&T US model so experience may differ. To be honest, I've never actually benchmarked em myself to compare. Good luck and look forward to hearing how it works out for you!
