Coming SOON: May 31- HTC Evo V (4G)- ICS

hi im kinda new here so bare with me :)

I have a question: can i be able to trade in my motorola triumph for the htc evo v 4g?If so will it possibly be a full trade or will i have to pay extra?

second question is why is only the htc evo v 4g and not the rest of the phones. It would be more better is the whole carrier will be able to get 4g with a 3g option

To answer your 2nd question: The reason why the HTC Evo V is the only one with 4g is because that is the newest and only (right now) phone that supports 4g and 4g is available in 70-100 cities while 3g covers a lot more ground

your first question is that i dont think you could trade. never heard anything from them allowing trades. your better off selling it to someone else. im selling mine to an older couple for $150. second question i think the other phones are only capable of 3g and cant run on 4g and this phone is the only 4g phone.

ok thanks for the reply... i ask that first question because a friend of mines claimed that he traded in his optimus v for the triumph at radioshack a few months ago and he only paid 150 for it.

Radio shack might have but trading directly with VM is probably not possible.

Its going to be a huge race for the Evo. I remember buying the last Optimus V at Radioshack in my area. Well I'm going to miss my V.

Man, I was set on getting this phone but now that Voyager Mobile is launching tomorrow, I'll have to reconsider. The Epic Touch 4G with $39/month for unlimited everything is too good to pass up. Maybe.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. Looks like there will be yet another Sprint based prepaid option. Why so many?

I'll have to look into this one now, too.

Any drawbacks you are aware of?

Looks like upon launching, their main site was maliciously hacked so now they're pushing back the launch date. Some people just ruin it.

For heavy talkers, you can get perks such as air mileage, handset upgrades and free monthly usage. Not sure what the guidelines are yet as to how much talk time you actually have to use to be qualified for said perks.

I suppose the only drawback (that I can think of off the top of my head) is WiMax coverage in your area. Fortunately for me, Las Vegas has great coverage.

wow, how do you let a hack take down your whole network?

this is the first I've even heard of Voyager. due to the hack I'm not able to get any clear info on coverage or availability. anyone know if this is in Florida for whenever they launch, specifically the Tampa area?

any info on phone pricing would be cool as well.

EDIT: doesn't look like there is any info on devices for voyager other than they're going to get a selection of Sprint phones, namely the Epic 4G Touch, which is basically a Samsung GSII(?) if this is the case and they're available in my area AND they offer the Epic for around the same price point as the Evo V, it's pretty much a no-brainer because the Epic smokes the Evo.

and what's the deal on rewarding you for talking? how does that make any sense?

I think maybe they might be encouraging talk usage to provide some relief to the 3G network...that's just speculation though.

The full name for that handset is the Galaxy S2 Epic Touch 4G (what a mouthful!) Downside is they're selling the phones as unlocked, which means cha ching! I heard from a guy that saw the site before it went down that the Epic Touch was $599. I emailed them and asked if we can bring our own CDMA phones, considering the site said the service should work on almost all android and windows phones.

They're supposed to launch in 18 states, which to me are still unknown.

CDMA phones can't be unlocked... That's a GSM only thing...

Hm. Are only CDMA phones used on Sprint's towers? Or can GSM phones be used too?

no GSM phones can't be used on a CDMA carrier... The only phones that can be used on both CDMA and GSM are global phones. Also even if Sprint could use GSM phones on their network it would be illegal to bring a non-Sprint phone onto Sprint.

I wouldn't be bringing it onto Sprint, it would be to Voyager Mobile. They will be using Sprint's towers.

I am going to hang at Walmart after work. Then I'm going to get the phone when it released at midnight or when ever ill just jam with my current phone n iPod nano.

still considering the Tmob monthly plan. the EVO V is cool but its a bummer that is on a decrepit network =/ the only downside to tmob is getting only 100 mins (i used about 250 last month and i barely ever talk on the phone). if Tmob would just seize this perfect opp to buff their minutes, i would switch to a S2 Hercules ASAP! giving it till my month runs out on the 8th to decide if i stay or go
