Commando memory and AutoKiller questions

I have read some good things about AutoKiller and decided to give it a try, but have some questions about it.

-Autokiller is different from a normal task killer because it shuts down apps according to how much memory is available on the phone correct?
- How much free memory do you guys typically see? mind is around 90-110 when there isnt much running
- How much memory does this phone have?
EDIT: I just read 512 MB RAM / 1024 MB ROM. So that would mean AutoKiller shuts down apps according to how much RAM is free?

I think any task killer is providing a placebo to users who have been given some incorrect or outdated information about Android. There is a big difference between "free" and "available memory". The first is unused empty memory which Android tries to fill with preloaded and cached apps so if and when they are called, they will open with little or no lag. Available memory includes the space that would be freed by dumping non-running processes apps or services to make room for an app that is launched.

While a task killer can give you more free memory, it will never make more memory available unless you kill something that is actually running, which is never a good idea.

Mine have 155m~186m available memory now:)

The task killer is not the best choice.

I root my phone,and uninstall some app that I don't need,like the map,bing,or others~

You can try it.Google how to root your phone, and download the drivers here:http://androidforums.com/commando-all-things-root/357216-c771-drivers.html

Then download the "root explorer",that's a good app~it will cost you $2.99~

Last, you'll find all the app waiting you in /system/app/...you can do every thing now~

If you want save your battery,I think the "setcpu" is your best choice.
That can set your cpu to low clock when you don't need it.
But the setcpu even need the root~
