Root Compass and Gingerbread.

Have any of you heard of any fixes for the compass when running Gingerbread? (Location on maps programs is "jittery and jumpy", compass is sometimes 180 deg off or always pointing NE, calibrates but then fails right away. Pretty much the classic description folks have been reporting for about the last year.) I've looked all over the web, including the Google bug report site, and although the problem isn't unique to any one device, manufacturer, or Rom/ Kernel, it does seem to follow GB. I've been sifting through my files/ folders/ mounts and can't seem to find anything I can ID as compass related. I did find a file with calls to an _crtl that seems to be sensor related, but that's about it.

Right now I'm on 2.3.6, CT MOD 3.4, KK 2.4, CWM 2.5.7 and EJ06 Baseband. I'm trying to avoid having to go back to Froyo, but I miss my sky maps and being able to geocache with a compass.

now that you mention it, i thought it was my phone only. I also noticed that in Google Mapsit will show the blue arrow as being right in my living room, but still says accurracy is 30 meters.
