Help Compass flakey

So, in the last few weeks my compass has needed constant recalibration. Whenever I open my compass app, it says 'abnormal field', I calibrate, and it lasts for about five minutes. Google Sky Map is pretty much useless as well as compass mode in Street View.

Anyone else having issues?

Same with my desire. It seems that the calibration parameters are not beeing saved. The problem came up just recently

I've found that if I wave it around real quick as I open the apps it calibrates. Not sure why it can't save the calibration. It was fine when I first got it.

Still open to suggestions.
