Help Compass hardware error

Does holding 'menu' while using a compass app cause your needle to twist 180 degrees?

  • Yes. It is really annoying.

Hi, a question and exercise for you guys before I hand my phone in to have it repaired:
1. Open any compass app, preferably one where you can see a dial but google maps' blue arrow works too.
2. Press and hold menu, not super firmly, but still like you mean it.
3. Watch your needle/arrow/whatever point in a totally new direction and spin up to 180 degrees.

As you see, this gets problematic when actually using the compass as anytime I press menu to change something it screws or interferes with the compass.

Try this and post your results!

try it and holding the menu button just brought up my keyboard, something did pop up saying abnormal magnetic field detected please calibrate, but the dial didn't spin 180 and im almost positive it's because i was right next to my computer. i suggest calibrating it, and try not to use it around anything electrical.
