Help Compass not working

My compass doesn't work in any compasd apps or navigation apps.

One compass app has a dialog box that comes up and states "MAGNETIC Sensor error. Reset your device!!"

I assume it means factory reset and I'd rather not do that.

I'm on the .244 leak.
 
Install the free GPS Status app. It has calibration tools for the compass, leveling tool and the A-Gps data. If that doesn't help with the problem, you will probably have to do the factory/data reset.

The calibration tool got the compass to work for about a minute, then froze again and magnetic field registered zero.

If you didn't already try it this way, turn on gps, wifi, and data while outside in a clear area. Start Gps Status and let the satellites lock. Then go through the calibrations again (the 3-way rotations). It got my compass working. Good luck. Factory/data reset is a pain.

Unfortunately that didn't work nor did a factory reset. I'm thinking it might be a hardware issue.
