Help Compass problems

My compass seems to stuck. I have followed the overly vague instructions on how to calibrate it in a figure 8 pattern. I have seen some posts that there is a calibration screen in settings on some other phones, but I haven't been able to find it on the Optimus M. The compass worked for the 1st week then no matter what way I rotate it I can not get it to point north.

I have to recalibrate mine everytime I start the app but you have already done that. We have rf machines where i work and my compass wont work in the building. Maybe you are around something that is causing interference?
