Help complete overnight battery discharge

Hi all,

I tried searching the internet, but I could not find a problem like this one.

So I have the AT&T Galaxy s3, unrooted. I'm having a blast with it; I've never going back to iPhone.

BUT on occasion, the battery will completely discharge overnight. Completely. Like, I have to plug it into a charger go get it to turn on.

I am aware that there is a battery issue concerning the cell standby statistic; I am reasonably sure that this is a separate issue.

Some context: I am aware of which apps and services devour battery. I keep GPS and location services to minimum, I dont have every app I ever downloaded running in the background. I use juicedefender plus to keep my network connections disabled until I go to use my phone.
On the whole, I am downright impressed with this phones battery life, considering how awesome it is.
I had gone to sleep at around 12:30, with my network connections off, a handful off apps running (gmail, handcent, music, etc) with 89% battery life.
Battery completely drained on wakening (8:30).
I love this phone, and this problems does not sound like it is common.
Could I have a defective galaxy s3?:confused::confused:

Did you check the battery stats and see what was draining it? Probably an app was running in the background that night.

This, some rogue app is probably staying on some nights before you go to bed because you use it...

And it drains your battery while you sleep, right under your nose ;)

If not get back to us and we will try and look further into it.

The app with the highest percentage was cell standby (67%), but I was under the impression that this was simply a misleading statistic report.
The next highest percentage was the android system at 22%.

I'm not so, sure...
I tend to stay on top of these things. I am not a big app person.
I do not have a twitter, facebook, pinterest app installed. I've heard bad things about the facebook app on android.

Hmmm, something is wrong then. There is no way your battery should have drain over night like that. Does it drain that fast all the time or does it happen every once in a while?

This is the second time that it has happened to me since I got the phone.
The circumstances were nearly identical.

My dad got this phone at the same time I did. I just asked him about it and he told me that this has happened to him once.
My dad is an IT manager for a municipality, so he is very capable with his phone. I know that he is not letting facebook run wild or anything.

I'm still searching.
I found this guy had a similar problem:
[Help][50% SOLVED] LTE = random heavy battery drain aka "plummet" - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com
The difference between him and me is that I've never witnessed my battery plummet. I just wake up and it is dead.

I was having a problem with fast battery drain also.
I have borderline service in most areas where I Live.
Changing my phone to CDMA only from LTE/ CDMA has improved my battery life to 1 or 1.5% per hour with average use. A full charge will last me two days. I also keep mobile data off until I need to check emails. Hasn't affected the performance of my phone negatively.

Did you disable LTE from the keypad menu (I've seen a keypad menu on some forum, something like #0727whatever)?
I'll look it up and investigate.
I live in Fort Lauderdale. I thought that we had good LTE coverage here, but I'll start keeping an eye on the cell towers that I connect to.
If bad service turns out to be the case, I'll try disabling LTE from that menu and report back at the end of the day.
Gathered from what I've found online, I suppose that it is possible that I simply placed my cell phone in a bad spot in my bedroom. Both times this happened, I had stashed my phone in the same place.

Anyone tried running Cpu Spy overnight to see if the phone ever gets into "deep sleep"?
Has this been since updating to Jellybean?
If so, sounds like ul have to do best to back everythin up and do a factory reset.
Percentages are percentages and if the phones idle then cell standby or android system will be at top but the battery life for a supposedly sleeping phone is terrible, i get time like that with screen on constantly, browsing and listening to music!

P.s, try dropping Juice Defender. You can do everything an app can do on an unrooted phone manualy mate ;)
