Managed to root to R2BA023 my earlier problem was a was mounting the phone to the PC and for some reason it was not able to copy to the SD card.

Now how do i uninstall apps i dont use like Moxier and Quadrapop etc etc!

Head down to post 4 on how to delete apps, or rather, what to type anyway:
xda-developers - View Single Post - [GUIDE] Root your X10 R2BA023 ! { Update 06.07.2010 Nicer Instructions :D }

I also found a video guide, you basically just edit one of the RunMe.cmd files, or any CMD file I guess. Step3 runme.cmd is used in the video - [Post ROOT Guide] App Removal + Backup Walkthrough Video + App list for customisation - xda-developers
There's a list there as well but, I couldnt get it to work with that list :s. I tried adding things though so, thats why I used the list in the first link.

If you root, and an update comes out, can you update through the computer like usual? Or do you have to reroot with the updated files?

Example, You root to 23, but 24 is available now, so can you update thru SEUS, or do you reroot with "cracked" 24.

Also, I am in Canada, and the latest build is 20, not 24. Is this true, or am i having problems?

Yeah that is true. Same for generic/unbranded handsets in the UK. Vodafone UK branded users however, have 24, users in India have 23.

As far as I know, for now anyway, the only way to do it, is to go back to an unrooted phone, however I'm sure the devs will have something up their sleeves when the time comes and SE release a new update. Until then, I dont think anyone can say for sure though.

So I guess you root to 23 and if you want 24 then you either unroot or wait for devs to make a 24 update themselves.

I noticed on the root page now, there are files in post 4 to update from 23 to 24, so maybe that's how you do it. I plan on rooting today(once all the files download because they take their sweet time having to wait for rapidshare to let me download another file), so I'll update with what i know if this works.

Edit: I rooted my X10a, but on the model number it now says X10i..and it says r1fa016, not 23...what happened?

Edit 2: Fixed

If you are still on the firmware that came with the phone, use the universal androot app. Find the .apk file, move it to your sd card and open it with a file manager.

I've been using my phone's auto update.. which keeps saying my phone is up to date, but I've installed the update service on PC.. then it's updated to R2BA026, it runs like a god now lol! so fast.. So do i just follow the

This is Idiot proof in 4 steps (thanks Jerpelea for that )

First download this file and extract it:
Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

Now please read the HowTo.txt and find your DeviceID in registry and edit the DeviceID.txt in step1 and step3 folders!
?

Anyone with Rogers tried to root yet? I messed up my HTC Magic three months ago, now got an Xperia but I don't wanna screw this one up lol. After rooting my Magic, I lost my sdcard, bluetooth and gps... Summary, it wasn't a smartphone anymore =/. Does that procedure will work well on Rogers Xperia? I know it is way simpler than the procedure for my ol' Magic. Please let me know before I proceed. Thanks :)

Edit : I did follow the procedure, Now my Xperia seems all nice, everything went smooth, it updated to R2BA024. However, I tried a few apps and they tell me it is not rooted... Not sure what is wrong?

Edit 2 : I GOT IT WORKING! :D I just read too quick and pressed the "any" key too quick at one step. I done all over the procedure and it works fine. Great work, nice procedure!

does rooting make you lose all your contact info, texts, or installed apps???

With that procedure yes, as you apply a new version of the OS. I think I heard about ways to do it without having to completely push a new OS image. However, I didn't loose my contact info since it was sync'ed with Google/Gmail. Hope this helps!

Use z4root from the Android Market. It can root the phone, just make sure that you install Busybox as well (also on the market). This is what I did and it worked great! Not sure why SuperOneClick didn't work, though.

thanks bro! by the way, i have ES File explorer and then i can see my system folder there, and all installed applications, but i cant delete what i want to.

I use Titanium Backup to delete system apps. Though Root Explorer is good for that too.

I have a issue with z4root... it does the job perfectly, i could install and use Titanium Backup but, each time i tried to download stuff from the market, it keeps FC at the moment of install. Anyway around this?

For this rooting software, is it updated if I use my updated X10 OS 2.1 (eclair)?
Will I still have my X10 with OS 2.1 or?
Has anyone tried this rooting using OS 2.1?

Many thanks...
