Help Complete USB disconnection - dead?

I dont know what to do anymore?
Running Win XP SP3 and installed the available driver for the Captivate. The media would not transfer MP3s or videos as I needed.

Found another driver, installed and the USB debugging mode was working when only I unmounted the SD cards. I was a happy guy. Even used sideloader to install APKs.

Now, PC will not recognize the phone. I have uninstalled / installed drivers, tried other ports, update PC....NOTHING is working.

Phone will charge off the port but, that is all now. Windows says unrecognized......

In "Settings --> SD Card --> Unmount".

Pull SD card.

Unplug phone from computer.

Reboot phone.

Put card back in.

Connect phone.

Mount it on the computer.

Does it work now? I had the same issue, and this procedure fixed it.

My MicroSD card is only 1gig. The internal SD has all my MP3s and movies on it. That cannot be removed...right? I hope I am not that stupid.

Time to get a bigger external MicroSD card. ;) They're cheap. A 1GB MicroSD card would be considered just about worthless now.

You can certainly transfer your music and movies from the internal "SD card" to the external (real) one. Media scanner scans everywhere and will index them all.

I have the exact same problem as djhotwheel and pulling the sd card and rebooting did nothing for me, unfortunately. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out and just started a new thread with the same question. I called Samsung and their Tier 3 helpers are out today due to the weather. I'm just wondering if it's a hardware issue at this point, but it did work before for me the same as djhotwheel's case. Any other suggestions?

So far here is what I have covered:
I have installed Samsung's drivers (current) and x86 Android Drivers. I have even tried the new KIES 2.0xx. I keep getting USB not recoginzed. I have tried every port in the PC. I have tried a power hub, I even went out today and bought a new USB 2.0 card. Still not working. Only charges the phone.

I called AT&T the tech says I have to go to the store and talk to a rep. He could not figure it out either. I eve ntried to use a bluetooth dongle and the connection works but, I cannot transfer any files for some reason? No MP3 no video. Just browse the device unless there is something I need to do.

HELP HELP!

djhotwheel,

I finally just called ATT and warrantied it out. I live close to Indianapolis and they have a warranty store there so I drove up there yesterday and they said they'd fix mine while I was there. Well, after about 15 minutes they realized I wasn't bs'ing them when I told them I have tried literally everything in every forum that I could find to fix it. They said no problem and basically gave me another captivate phone with my original battery and sim card. I took it home last night, installed a new rom and couldn't be happier since I can install nonmarket apps and it runs blazingly fast now. I even installed samba for android so that I can load files via wifi to my sd card. If your phone is less than a year old, calling ATT may be your only option, although I really do wish I had figured it out myself first.

That's my plan. I hope ATT will do something. The only thing I have used is a sideloader for a few programs but, everything is still original. I just wish I knew what it was.

So far, ATT phone tech is a no go. I went the main local store and they are sending me to a tech center about 15 miles away. This is crazy. Waste so much time.
