Completely new to root..should I?

I am VERY interested in rooting my Droid Eris...but I am VERY new to it..I don't understand overclocking or whatnot or even what ROMs are in general..should I root?

hell i tried and failed. . . Im stuck in the middle of a root. . . trying to figure out how to go back to stock so i can get the new software update that is out.

its tough but worth it.

edit... well let me rephrase, flashing the engineering bootloader is tough, the root was easy with the runinlinux.sh method - whichever that is.

I flashed one rom, stuck with it and I love it.

Phone has never run faster, more stable, and is a delight to use.
