Help Configure handwriting panel for complete recognition?

I've had my Galaxy Note 10.1 for two weeks, and I'm still learning. I love it. I'm enjoying it and using it for lots of things, but the real deal-maker for me was the S-pen and the ability to input via handwriting and have it transformed to text.

Thanks to a demo I found on YouTube, I have been able to use the GN the way I want. The video is at

Galaxy Note 10.1 - Handwriting panel demo - YouTube

I use complete recognition, as in the video, which (after testing the various modes) I prefer over stroke recognition. My problem is that I write small, and the words that are retained on the handwriting panel are much bigger than my writing, so if I pause very slightly and the words are generated, I find myself writing over the words (because the stylus is where I paused and the larger-size generated words have overtaken it), which confuses me and sometimes leads to errors.

I have noticed that if I fill up several lines, the generated words sometimes get smaller on later lines, eventually to the point that they're similar in size to my own handwriting, which works well and lets me write much more naturally--but the only way to get that size seems to be to have several lines of generated text in the handwriting panel. And it doesn't always work. Sometimes the font stays larger, and occasionally it gets really large on the lower lines for no obvious reason. I have no idea what governs this in the software. The fact that I can sometimes get smaller text suggests that it should be configurable, but I can't find a way.

If you use stroke recognition exclusively, this description probably won't make any sense to you, because with stroke recognition, what you write goes directly up in to the application and doesn't generate words on the handwriting panel. But I like the ability to do some editing/fixing in the panel before the words go into the application. I just want a smaller font for the generated words.

Anyone know of a way to configure the handwriting panel for this?

I watched the tutorial and it was very helpful. I am only a few days into my SGN 10.1 and I had not adjusted those settings at all. After experimenting some I like the complete recognition as well better than the stroke. I had noticed the handwriting going onto the yellow handwriting panel in that font in other S Note demos on YouTube and I was wondering where they got that font but now I see that it's native to the complete recognition.....I wonder if you can make it something other than kind of light blue...let us know what you find on making it any smaller.

You can change the color in the settings. As in the video, hold on the button between the "123 Sym" button and the "A with a pen" to get the choice of microphone, keyboard, or gear (settings). Select the gear, and you'll get a list of options. Select "Handwriting," and from the next menu, select "Pen color." I use black. I didn't like that light blue either.

I was hoping for size options there too, but aside from the pen thickness (which I have at the smallest setting), there's nothing.

I am currently writing this message with my Note 10.1. This tablet is simply amazing .

That's very interesting. It seems to make it easier to edit. Something I often find hard work on the Note. Don't fill the screen up with too much text though it gets easily confused

I've used this for several days now, its a major improvement (for me) over the stroke recognition, and I suggest everyone tries it out.

Being able to do the normal handwriting and then quickly amend any mistakes is wonderful, much better than the way you have to amend in stroke recognition mode. This might not make sense unless you try it out, it didn't for me so I'd be interested to hear any other thoughts on this

Yes, it's the ability to do some editing in the handwriting panel that I like. Much faster, for me, than editing after the fact. I'm an editor by trade, and the gestures are very familiar and comfortable for me.

Two more points that I have recently discovered:

1 . As you write the note will try to suggest different words for the characters you enter - just above the input area. You can select a better word for your current word by just choosing one of these. this can be faster than using the editing strokes while you write

This feature is great, but what if the misinterpreted word is not the last one? I learnt accidentally today that you can just quickly click one of the earlier words in the handwriting area and the choices of words will switch to the one you tap. It needs to be a very quick tap to work. It does mean you can write quite a lot and then quickly review for any errors and this, will make you even quicker using this method
