Confirm before dialing?

7bit, would it be possible to provide an option to automatically proceed with the dialing if a specified amount of time (say, 10 sec) passes without user input? It would be quite a useful refinement.

Also, the Google Voice bug is quite irritating. Hopefully it can be fixed soon.

I got an UPDATE this morning on CONFIRM CALL, Go To Market, then Downloads in the menu options, and see if there's an Update. Sometimes updates pending without notifications in the status bar.

I just wanted to comment on the BT features. I have installed version 1.1.1 and it does everything I need it to. Instead of using the bluetooth check box I use the screen lock checkbox. This way if I am dialing from the phone and BT is on it will still ask for confirmation. When dialing with BT via my car's in dash unit I'm not using the phone's pad and the phone is locked. Works perfect for me. Thanks for the assistance in adding this feature. Google voice dialing still doesn't work, but I don't dial via google voice much, but if I want to, I just temporarily disable this app. Thanks much. Great addition as i still hit the contact names while scrolling and it would be calling people I don't want to.

i find confirm call comes in handy for me because i have contacts (direct call) short cuts on my home screen where Not Call Log App takes me to after i end a phone call.

With google voice I always get a pre-call sceen asking if I want to dial with/without google voice. This let me uninstall the confirm call app. I guess I should add that I pretty much had to uninstall the confirm call app because with both on there, the phone just kept cycling back and forth between the confirm call screen and google voice screen and would never actually make the call no matter how I answered.

Thank you for the experiment. I wish I could work around, but Google Voice is only available in US. (I live in Japan). I tried to setup GV on my emu with lang:en_US, but could not register.

My plan is this: lookup the Activity history (getRecentTasks ?) and if an Activity which belongs to GV's package is detected, pass the call (do not popup).
However, I can not know the actual package/Activity name of GV's dialer..

If GV began in Japan, I will try.

Edit: Just saw this from the DEV.

I love this app. Thanks much for the work. As to GV - all you need to do is turn your app off when you want to you GV - no big deal.

I think you're missing the point. It's not really a problem. The app is unnecessary with google voice. The GV confirmation/choice does the same thing as confirm call.

This is true. I had GV set to "always use GV" and was not getting the confirm screen. So, either will work but if you want to have GV set to always use then you don't get the confirm screen.

I tried this and it was working fine.

However, I changed the setting on google voice to have it use that for calls, and now when I make a call, it keeps asking me if I want to make the call over and over and never makes the call

It's not the end of the world, sure, but I don't like this workaround because it opens me up to the possibility of accidentally dialing a number directly through my carrier (and thus probably exposing my phone's own number). A simple Yes/No dialog would still be much better.

I have Google Voice but this still happens when scrolling through call history. If you simply touch any call, it will automatically dial and call that person.

Under the 'people' or contact list, it will open the contacts details but in 'call history', it dials immediately.

There is a setting that will require GV to ask if you want to dial using GV or not. This trick helps me a lot. I do not know how people function with out GV. There is also a widget which will allow you to toggle this setting with a simple tap.

Hey 7bit,

First of all, Thanks for such a great App!

This is just a suggestion:

Could you create a better confirm 'code' option of 4 numbered buttons where user selects two numbers of their choice to press as a confirmation code to proceed with the call. As it is now, one could actually dial by mistake from a pocket and they could also confirm the 'yes' button accidentally. Pressing a series of two numbers as a PASSCODE would be less likely.

I installed "Not Call log"... after you hang up/end a call... your phone is directed to a screen of your choice instead of your phone's CALL LOG.

I use to end my calls having my calculator appear, what i did now is use all 6 of my screens to add shortcuts, direct dialing, and Apps. My Home screen is Blank of all and any Icons, now when my calls end, my home screen appears without the fear of activating an app or dialing a number, i still use confirm call because i might hit a contact by mistake when selecting from optional screens or dialing from a contact list.

Keep in mind you can put your phone to sleep on any one of your seven screens which will appear when you awake your phone.

I hate the CALL BY MISTAKE routine, i did what i had to do to prevent that, because the mistaken call always calls a number you really don't want to talk to at the precise time... lol.

What really be nice is a App that LOCKS/Unlocks the PHONE only, enter a code that UNLOCKS and allows entry to use your PHONE except when your receiving a call, you should be able to just answer the call, kind of a self unlocking (incoming calls).

new android user here, and on my incredible, it was pissing me off that it would dial when i clicked on a contact on my recent calls. this solved it and gave me *exactly* what i wanted.

awesome. thanks!

oh. my. gosh! Thank you thank you thank you - a million thank yous! I was beginning to get very embarrassed by all the accidental calling I was doing. I thought it was just me. This application works PERFECTLY.
