Help Confuse about continous auto focus and focus mode

Newbie
Review sites says that continous auto focus can be turn off, all i see in the video recorder options are, (face detection, single autofocus, and infinity). Which one of those turns the focus off? Which is the average optimum to use also because it was face detection was the default on focus mode?

What about the still camera, what focus mode should it be normally? single af? multi af? face detection? infinity? or touch focus?

Thanks :)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Anyway, do you guys just leave the focus mode on default "Face Detection" for recording videos and taking pics or what?

How come I don't have scene recognition. In the options I only have Normal, Sweep Panorama, Sweep Multi Angle and 3D Sweep Panorama.

Is their an option or settings within the camera that might have disabled or hidden this option?

@Del1701 - By saying scenes on auto, is that mean it's on normal mode?

Auto will try and recognise the scene and change by itself. Hit normal and you can now use the icon below to manually select a scene (and get more options in the menu).

Auto is fine in most well-lit conditions, but can make a mess of things in low-light where it's possibly better to manually set the exposure etc.
