Help Confused by firmware versions.

Hi folks, after reading these forums for the past few weeks I finally debranded my Vodafone SGS2. However, I have some questions.

1) What is the latest UK Generic firmware? I installed what I though was the latest UK XEU firmware, but the phone is now running Android 2.3.4 instead of the 2.3.5 version it had previously with the Vodafone firmware.

2) I was under the impression that after installing a stock generic firmware, I would be able to update OTA or with Kies. Is this wrong? I certainly cant get mine to update past 2.3.4 :(

3) Can you please look at my details and see what i've done wrong?

Please help, I'm totally out of my depth here. I've read all the guides but cant find any definitive answers. All I want is an unbranded phone that is running the latest firmware and is upgradable via Kies.
 
That's probably the most recent generic UK version; afaik it's still at 2.3.4. If you want 2.3.6 you'll have to flash a non-UK firmware such as one of the generic European ones.

If you 'debrand' a device updating via Kies and OTA no longer work as your device is no longer recognised as a Vodafone handset.

That's the problem though. I've been reading about it for weeks but still am not 100 confident in picking the definitively best stock firmware for a SGS2 in the UK.

got it from the links on XDA (via this forum - search KK5) and installed using ODIN

Mines unlocked unbranded CPW using Vodafone SIM on 2.3.6
 
Cheers mate. Mine is a debranded Vodafone unit purchaced from a Vodafone store. I'll try this when I get home and let you know how i get on. Thanks again :)
