Root Confused

I took the OTA for froyo on my Ally and wish I could go back, When I read the posts about rooting it, it sounds like I revert to V6 and update again. Whay can't I just revert to V6 and flash a previous nand backup. Won't this put the phone back the way it was before the update?

You can. Use the first part of the guide to flash back to stock V6 and then stop. Go through the normal motions from that point to root, install a custom recovery and then restore your nand backup.

That worked. Froyo did not respond to my touch commands very well. I'm back on VZC running drellisdee's OC kernel and Velocity .04 with JIT, A2SD working nicely with 123MB memory free.
