Connected contacts? What is that?

Hey. I'm messing around with my phone and found "connected contacts".

What is the difference between "connected" and "not connected"

you find this option if you press a contact => view contact.
Up the right corner you find a conected symbol?

I've been trying to update my facebook friends profil pictures on my contact list too..

Google didn't help much either
So:

1. What is "connected?" Does it mean it will auto update my friend status etc(because it isn't updating)

2. Does anyone know how to update my contact list (facebook)?

1 Is the option to merge contacts. The options are explained here.

2 I don't use Facebook, sorry, so I will leave that for someone else to answer (if, indeed, the answer is not included in the link provided at #1)
