Help Connecting A500 to Droid X

I have a new A500 which I was able to root with the iconiaroot.apx. I have a non rooted Droid X using 2.3.3. All I want to do is be able to use is my Droid X to provide internet access on my A500 while im in my car, traveling, etc. For the life of me, and after reading for 2-3 days, I cannot figure this out. Can anyone help me?

Easiest is to use the Verizon 3 G Mobile Hotspot app. I have the same configuration a DroidX on 2.3.3 and it works well. The other option is to search the forum and look for a USB tethering option that Verizon did not block with the 2.3.3. Release. Good luck.

Can you tell me specifically which app you used? I searched for what you mentioned and only came back with "Extended Controls" by Honolulu Team. Is that what your using? Thank's.

Native on your droidX Verizon included the "3G mobile hotspot" the icon is a green square with a white antenna. It is included on your Droid, and is an optional service from Verizon. When you start it it allows you to setup the Driod as a wireless AP.

You need to get the service from verizon. Let me check on my wife phone to see if it acts the same as you indicated.

I setup the service on my wife's phone (she does not use the hotspot service) and the A500 connects and gets an IP addres. When I open the browser I get redirected to the "you need to subscribe to this service". So, if you are not getting an IP address I would recommend trying to re-setup the service completely to ensure you have the security set correctly and restart your tab.

Your other options likely involve rooting your X to allow ad hoc service. I for one have not traveled that path.
