connecting Ad Hoc

roth140

Newbie
i have a Rooted eris with wifi tethering, but the galaxy tab doesnt find the broadcast. If i use my netbook it finds the "Android" SSID from my Eris and it will connect.

is there any way I can travel with my eris and use it to provide the Tab with wifi?

my fried has a rooted evo and it broadcasts a hotspot, not an ad hoc. stupid eris.... im going back to the best buy Demo unit to try the bluetooth tether.

Over on xda, there is a thread on using root to replace a wpa_supplicant file in /system/bin. Now I can "see" ad hoc and connect.

I can disable mobile networks and still get an internet connectoon from my rooted eris. It is running the rooted wireless teather app. Speedtest.net shows im still getting good speeds. Now I can drop the vzw $20 plan.

This tab really is great, no complaints!
