Connecting Tab 7 2 to PC

is anyone else having problems connecting their Tab 2 to their PC? I have downloaded the latest Kies and still can't get the PC to recognize the device.Any Suggestions?

others may be better able to talk you through this , but this is what I did. By the way I have a Windows 7 PC. Connect your Tab 2 to the pc using the usb . at that point your pc should indicate it is loading the "new device found" drivers. It took a log time on my machine. Once it is finished you should be able to see both the external sd card and the internal memory called sd drive. If this acts correctly then you should be able to transfer files from both the internal memory and the external sd card and from and to your pc.

for some reason some pc's even though they have usb 2.0 it keeps telling to plug into a dift port for faster speeds. Samsund refuses to acknowledge it or try and troubleshoot

Answer: YES

I refuse to use Kies. I want to connect the USB cable, and have the tablet appear as a drive letter. I wish to use Windows Explorer (my computer) to copy the files the good old fashioned way.

I have commented on my findings and results of dealing with Samsung Support under another thread. To avoid reposting here, I invite you to read the thread...

Samsung support keeps referring me to a pending device driver that they will soon, but have yet to release.

Did Windows ask you if you wanted [FONT=&quot](MTP) or (PTP) mode[/FONT]? If so, which did you choose? MTP mode driver install fails under XP but I have yet to try it with Windows 7. I have read it will work in Win 7, for reasons I commented on in another thread. (ref: avi transfer)
 
I connect my tablet to my PC using wireless, which I prefer over the USB method. Two programs work very well...

1) ES File Explorer, where you can connect via the LAN to any shared folders on PCs. This is initiated from the tablet.

2) SWIftp, which is an ftp server that runs on the Android. I then connect from the PC using any ftp client. If you install NetDrive on your PC, the ftp connection to the tablet will look like another disk drive on the PC. I use this with FreeFileSync to backup and synchronize specific files between the tablet and my pc.

Neither of the above require rooting.

If you are rooted, try Samba Filesharing, which directly makes the tablet look like another computer on the PC LAN.
 
on XP i had to install kies to get the proper drivers installed.
I do not actually run kies, it is a real turd. Very very unstable. I have to try to uninstall it and see if i can still connect through explorer.

Also, the reason you may need to reboot the tab is it can't do wifi and usb at the same time (it seems). Just make sure you aren't running any wifi apps and you should be good.
 
With the Tab switched OFF (Not Powered ON), I always connect the USB end to my Laptop -( Win. 7) first, and then POWER ON the TAB. It takes few seconds before it shows up in my Explorer as GT-P3113 below the C: directory. Never had any problem starting this way.
 
You all are over looking the problem. It's not a Windows or Galaxy Tab 2 issue.

it is a .Net Framework issue get the latest framework 4 which can be installed using kies. Just install then remove kies. leaving media player 11 n .Net Framework 4 intact. Hope that helps. Then once you connect your tab 2 it will be a hard drive not a camera. ;) JC
