Help connecting to my computer

I searched but didn't find answers for this but when I plug my note 3 into my computer using a USB cord it doesn't show up on my computer? I was able to do this with my old droid to to get my song on phone but must be doing something wrong...is there a setting I'm missing? Help, miss my music!!! Thanks!
 
Hello and welcome to the forums. Now this maybe funny but not to many cause its a simple mistake . did you place the SD card in the device and download the device drivers to the PC/laptop
 
Now if you tried all of the above . and have downloaded the appropriate drivers from the device . reboot your PC/laptop and try another USB port
 
I don't have a sd card yet I was hoping to just be able to connect it to the computer with a USB cable and transfer them that way? Can that not be done on the note 3? My old phone it would come up as a removable storage on "my computer" option on my computer.
 
Without the SD card you will fill up the device memory fast . doing this will cause the android device to run slow and will also deletion of a few songs . this will happen til you get a SD card .

With a Note 3? You must have a few full length movies stored on yours. I still have way over 25GB free internal storage. Between that and the 32GB SanDisk I think the phone's going to retire with plenty of space still free. (And there's loads of junk I've downloaded just to help people here and haven't gotten around to uninstalling yet.)
