Connecting to network internet

I have the same problem connecting to Telstra network - "Connect to internet is off". This is the same whether I have a USB connection, or use the Samsung as a WiFi connection.
The options I have ticked are ...
Wireless & networks > Tethering & portable hotspot
> USB tethering: ON
>Mobile network settings >
>Data roaming: ON
> Access point names: telstra.iph (as provided by Telstra)
>Mobile network> Enable data acess over mobile network: ON
Accounts & sync > Background data: ON
I can't see what else there is to switch on to make this work.
HOWEVER, Pottsie, my power button option now says "Connect to internet is ON", so maybe you need one of those ticks in the above boxes.
BUT even though the phone says "connected", the PC it is connected to (by wire) says "No internet access", and browsing just doesn't work!
Completely puzzled!!

there should be a setting in...

You just press that and bobs your mums brother

Yesterday I said that I could check the tick for ...

That would have solved pottsie's problem, as you mention, GE.
Today, I can't tick that same box. It's greyed out, no matter whether I connect via USB or via WiFi.
Any ideas what influences that check box?

OK, I've figured out one piece of the puzzle. I have two SIM cards. One had credit for data access, the other didn't. The one that didn't - a TravelSIM - needed firstly a credit topup and secondly the APN "send.ee" needed to be set up specifically for the TravelSIM.
Once that was set up, the greyed out area for ...

... was no longer permanently grey, and I could turn it on or off.
Internet browsing and syncing on the phone is then no problem.
So maybe that was your problem, pottsie?

THat sounds odd mine has always been avaliable to press ie not greyed out but then i have unlimited data on my plan .
