Help connecting warp to pc via usb cable

Ominous

Newbie
Okay so I cannot get my non-rooted warp to connect to my pc so I spent several hours going through all the pages here in forums looking for the solution. And I have read and tried probably all the threads that pertain to my issue. And alas still no connectivity. I know my cable is good as I can still connect my old samsung prevail and the pc recognizes it so it must be the phone or the pc. I tried the ZTE handset software, I have tried downloading the drivers directly from microsoft, I have tried SDK manager and even tried pdanet and yet nothing seems to work. The phone will charge off of the cable but no data connection, (oh and by the way I don't know if this will help but when I plug it in to my car stereo via usb it charges as well but again no data transfer) so anyway long story short I think the physical usb port on the phone must be messed up somehow. So I thought I could maybe start a thread here that just deals with this issue so that hopefully noone else would have to read through all 48 pages of ZTE warp related threads. Just a thought

Have you tried going into settings/applications/ unknown sources? Tick that box, and I think somewhere there is an option to turn on USB debugging? Been a while since I was Stock. But the PC should at least see the sd card as just another drive.

My vote is rooting the phone. If your on linux i know you.dpnt need to worry abput drivers but windows does. Also if you gp to your widgets or shortcuts i do.t remember which then select settings and that should expand and continue untill you see a tether option create the shortcut and use it. As for recognizing for data try using adb but you may need root. Also im not sure bout stock recovery since i dumped it first flash but there may be an option to mout sd card for usb storage i know cmw has the option. When you set up sdk there should have ben a file ypu created that you had to write a line or two in to get it to recognize the phone but theres a whole list you can google, copy then paste to add more carriers to be recognized im not on my pc atm so i cant be more specific or post the file so i hope i could at least help a little if i remember ill try and upload my copy of the file and dropbox it to you but if i forget im sorry

LilBit, thanks for the suggestion but yes I tried that and still no data. Unkown I downloaded SDK and used the drivers that came with it (oh and btw I am using windows 7 64 bit) but since the pc still won't detect the phone I cannot fully set up SDK. So I am still waiting for that proverbial fix. Thanks for the suggestions tho.

Go into device manager by right clicking on computer in start menu and clicking manage>device manager with phone plugged in. Find your device in USB devices I think and update drivers.

Handset drivers are no good without doing what I mentioned... I tried with the warp that was donated to me... drivers wont even install unless you "update" through device manager.

I believe this should do it:)
Good advice Skinny:D

Thanks! It should work... all the work I've ever done was in Windows so I know the platform like the back of my hand. I know its finicky at times with android since its Linux based.

Loose solder joints on the motherboard with ur min USB results u get only charging n no data connection through the data connectors. Just did this n it was fine afterwards that's why I only spent 40 for my zte warp

Jay I know that it is not the usb ports, I build pc's for a living and mine is a tank lol not to boast too much but my rig is solid anywho Skinny and Lilbit my pc still wont even recognize that the device has even been plugged in so there is no way to go into device manager and see it so I am still stuck oh well I think I am going to get a nexus 4 soon and just give up on the warp

They've been removed from the ZTE website, I may have a copy on my computer though I doubt it because I've erased them...

Have you tried removing the drivers and then plugging in the phone and going into device manager? That's what helped me
