I have checked on the B&N website but they don't really seem to want to acknowledge that it is a problem with the Nook so I'll ask here. Maybe someone here can help us.
Got the wife a NC for Christmas. I have a Netgear WNR2000 Wireless router with the latest firmware. The router is set up with WEP off. I use a Mac Access list to control what devices connect to the router. DHCP is active. The SSID name is not broadcasted.
The nook connects to the router and receives a valid IP quickly. The issue is that the Nook continues to 'Check Connection' and then after a couple minutes of this, it returns a message 'Connected but no Internet'. The things I have done to try to remedy this is; I forced the router to connect at 'G' speeds instead of 'N'. I have turned on SSID broadcasting, and of course rebooting the router and Nook after any changes.
I have no problem connecting to the router with the following devices, an original Ipod Touch, my Droid X, an old Dell 2200 laptop running a Wi-Fi PC card in the pc slot and the first edition Nook.
I did dig out an old Netgear Wireless 'G' router and I connected that as an access point to my network and set it up the same way I have my 'N' router set up and the Nook connects and runs just fine on that one. I would rather not have to have two wireless networks running at my house if I don't have to, and of course prefer to keep my 'N' network.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We can also connect her NC to my DroidX using 3G Hotspot no problem.
Thanks,
