Help please. I made the mistake of buying a Blackberry phone recently instead a Droid. I was hoping to be able to tether my phone to my laptop for internet access when away from the office. Verizon said that wasn't possible unless I paid an additional $30/mo. I was told, however, that the Droid phone can tether with a one-time app download since it is partnered with Google.

Now I want to purchase a tablet and want to avoid a similar mistake. I'm wondering if there is a downloadable app for using the tablet to access internet to my laptop while away from the office. Or, alternatively, with a tablet can one use a program like Logmein or Crossloop to access a remote computer?

Thank you for any help.

There are quite a few Remote Desktop Applications available for Android tablets in the Android Market. Some are even free, although as with anything else, you get what you pay for. There are several versions of Remote Desktop Client for Windows PCs. There is also LogMeIn Ignition for Android https://secure.logmein.com/welcome/android/.

I would suggest that you purchase as much tablet as you can afford - a Motorola XOOM or something similar, as they are going to have more powerful specs than the low end Chinese knock-off tablets.

Best of luck! Let us know how it turns out for you!
