Help Constant Browser Crash?

Since the clean install of AOSP 4.2.1, I've been experiencing extremely frequent Android Browser crashes. It is nearly guaranteed to occur on Engadget, sometimes happens on Time, and randomly happens with other sites and forums. I also can't access Facebook, as the request results in a message stating that there are too many server redirects.

The only other software I have installed is AdAway (so I'm rooted with SuperSU).

Anyway, can someone help with with these two issues? I don't want to use a different browser, and I've Force Stop + Clear Data'd Android Browser at least four times so far.

EDIT: I forgot to mention a third problem. I'm almost sure this one is due to AdAway - all browsers, including Chrome, refuse to go "back" on certain sites, notably Engadget and Time. They just refresh the page, regardless of if I use the browser's back button or the system back button.

I am seeing the same thing with an unrooted stock Verizon Gnex. Only noticed it the last few days. It only happens on certain sites and the crashes can be stopped by turning off JavaScript. Of course, then some sites are unusable. I have tried clearing everything I can clear and getting rid of possibly poorly behaved apps such as antivirus and nook. Any other ideas?

get the 4.2.1 gapps just google search it... had the same problem too just flash them see if that fixes your problems think the gapps package was JOP4OD

Mine stopped crashing. I can't get it to crash on either Engadget or MacRumors, the two largest culprits.

That leaves only the AdAway back button issue. I've heard that activating the webserver from AdAway resolves these issues, but I'm a little apprehensive about the potential battery drain.

All the sites my browser has been crashing on no longer cause any problem. I am running stock Verizon 4.1.1 Gnex. No ad blocking. Since the android version seems to make no difference and there seems to be no other software culprit I am leaning toward a guess that we were being fed corrupted ads.
