Help Constant lag

Lurker
Ive had my galaxy s3 for a few months now. Im on verizon. When i first got it, it had a few problems with notification but a few updates fixed that and i got the jelly bean update which made the phone nice and smooth. But before and even know when i type for texting theres a lag. I type in words but it doesnt show then a few second later the phone finally inputs the words. Ive tried restarting the phone, clearing the ram. The phone is usually around 800mg/1.5gb. Ive turned off s voice, lowered the animations, battery save is not on or anything, didnt tamper with cpu settings and ive tried the stock keyboard and bought the smart keyboard. The lag doesnt only occur with the typing. sometimes just switching from app to home or something it kinda lags. Not sure what to do, maybe a factory reset. I want to root my phone but im waiting just in case my phone breaks. I dont want to root then unroot.

As for for the lag issue, a factory reset it always a good first step towards trying to fix certain issues because it clears all apps and that could be what is causing your lag. That's where I would start. As for rooting, feel free to check out the Verizon S3 All Things Root subforum where there should be guides and walkthroughs for rooting the device if you do decide to go down that route.

Try a Cache Cleaning app/widget before reset mate for the keyboard issues.... works for me :) !

P.s, i use Smart Keyboard pro too

I didnt download a app, just went into boot screen to clear the cache. Same thing right? Well it worked a little bit, but theres still a small lag. I didnt notice the ram is a lot lower then it use to be when i cleared the ram on task manger. Its about 400-500mb compared to 600-700 that it use to be at.

This is off topic but does your guys skype app kinda glitchy and not work smoothly?

Thanks mod. Probably going to have to go down that route soon. May bring the phone to verizon and see whats up cause i dont think its normal form my phone to be as glitchy as it is and laggy.

any other suggestions guys? After the cache clear its back to its laggy self again, laggint to bring up the keyboard and still a long delay

Tbh i think you need a reset mate :( my keyboard is really snappy but i was having other problems after JB so did a reset and figured i might as well root 1st to back everything up making the reset totaly painless :)
Then i figured i may as well have a clockable kernel then a custom rom lol........ this is how it happens man :)
