Root Constant Random Reboots

I'm running GPA13 with Petes 1.10 kernel, have been since it came out. Out of nowhere today I'm getting constant random reboots. It boots up, mounts the SD Card, and then randomly reboots.

Anyone know a quick fix to this or am I starting from scratch?

Random reboots are generally a symptom of a kernel not agreeing with your phone. It is probably too high a clock speed for your phone. I would suggest backing it down to a 1ghz or 800 mhz kernel to see if that fixes it and see how that is. Also always make a backup before flashing a new kernel.

You could also flash the rom and use the standard kernel and see if the reboots stop. Also make sure you do a wipe of data and cache before installing the new ROM.

I have the same random reboots. I was at GPA12 and then went to GPA13 with the included kernel running at 600MHZ SV.

I have several freezes. The phone completely freeze. About once a day.
Sometimes, it slow to a crawl for a minute and then it recovers.

WirelessTether did not work. But started working when I installed version 2.0.6

I'm wiping and keeping the same kernel that's included with the ROM, I've tried different kernels but they don't do anything.

It's now happened with GPA12, GPA13, The new UD, and Simply Stunning. And I've tried an endless number of kernels.

The only way to get it to stop rebooting is factory reset. It's annoying the shit out of me and seems like there's no way to fix it. Thinking about just going back to a basic ROM till the Bionic.

I NOW know why Motorola isn't issuing GB for the OG Droid, it makes the phone a big piece of shit.

I'm sorry it's not working:(. A number of people have found that they can't seem to run GB without problems. Their phones just don't like it. That might be the case with yours since all of the GB roms are having issues running on yours.

I would wait and see how they work once Verizon and Motorola release a GB rom with the CDMA drivers and such. From what I understand all the ROMs are using a number of work arounds to resolve some issues (such as the way they restore the 3G after a phone call.)

As for the Bionic I am hoping it is like the Xoom and has an unlockable bootloader and a way to turn off any kind of blur they put on it. It sounds like a great phone.

Bummer man, I have GPA13 and the 1.1 kernel, and I couldnt ask for better. Battery life is awesome and performance is well beyond what I'd hoped for.

Are you doing complete wipes and clearing dalvik cache as well, between ROMs?

You could try

or

http://androidforums.com/droid-roms/284475-project-elite-v5-asop-gingerbread.html

I have used both and seemed more stable than Petes current GB rom.

Its just a game of cat and mouse to find the one rom that works well with your droid. Just like R2 in star wars these droids can tend to be a bit eccentric.

Not to sound like a broken record but wipe before the loading of the rom. Many people says to do 3 wipes in a row to make sure a clean slate when loading the new rom.

Good luck and hope you find the one rom that works for you.

Something to think about trying BlueIce is the newer ROMs coming out. GPA14 is in beta but should be released as stable soon. It uses a new method of memory management that frees up some internal memory and reduces the agressiveness of the Gingerbread task management approach. This is supposed to prevent some of the random reboots people experience. The same fix is supposed to be in CM RC3 when it is released. This may have been what caused your problems, so you might want to give GB another try when these ROMs are released.
