Root Constant Rebooting

Lurker
Hey guys... I've been reviewing this and many other threads to figure out how to fix my phone, but this looks like the best. Hopefully, someone can help me through this problem. My phone was rooted 6 months ago. It generally worked fine, with an occasional hiccup (especially when I used GPS). Anyhow, a week ago it got stuck in the reboot cycle. Selecting Recovery just results in rebooting cycle. I tried copying the PC36IMG over to microSD card, but after it runs its little operation, I get the screen:

"Main Version is older!"
"Update Fail!"
"Do you want to reboot device"

My screen shows these settings:
*** UNLOCKED ***
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 Ship S-ON
HBOOT-2.18.0001
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.12.19

Sorry if I'm reasking what others have done so before, but I'm lost here and would really appreciate some advice walking me through the entire process to get back up. At this stage, my goals are (in order): 1. get phone working (rooted or unrooted) 2. sync up again with my Outlook thru HTC's program 3. recover my data (i.e., texts, etc.) stored on phone/SD.

PLEASE HELP!!

Hello and welcome patelam!!
What PC36IMG file did you try to run?
We can try to get a recovery installed first and hopefully we can get it going with that:)
Stand by and I will find the guide to use for that:)

Edit: o.k...go to this link:

Click on "show" for the HTCDev method. You can skip the rooting part as you have done that.
Now, scroll down to the "How to get a recovery" (step 2).
And following the PC36IMG method, we can try to install a recovery.
If the PC36IMG method does not work, we can try the ADB method. But in order to do that method, you need to download the files listed in the "setup"
the setup
you will need to download these files:
adb.exe
fastboot.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
HTC Sync 3.0.5551
Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
but we can deal with that if the PC36IMG method does not work.:)

So, lets try the PC36IMG method to install the recovery first.
