Root Constant sync Gingerbread issue?

Shamrock13

My GB won't restore my applications from the market. I've let it sit overnight and nothing's happening.

Also, it appears I have an endless sync going on. I checked to see what it said was syncing and it's my Gmail. I don't know how to fix that. I hope it doesn't kill my battery. I've been using my phone lately for a lot of work related calls. >_<

I hope some people here have answers for meeeeee! :D

Thanks!

For your market issue you can try the "Fix Permissions" option in JRummy's overclock app (which can be found under Extras > Miscellaneous > Fix Permissions) or the Market Doctor option in Titanium Backup (Menu Button > More > Market Doctor).

If you're getting the never-ending sync icon, it's probably due to your BlurContactsSync.apk trying to sync your contacts (which android already does natively through backupassistanceclient.apk, android-syncservice-app.apk, etc), so try renaming BlurContactsSync.apk to BlurContactsSync.bak. It can be found in the /system/app folder. Just to make sure, you should probably make a nandroid backup first.

i am seeing the same thing. sync icon is on pretty much all the time. did the blursync rename & restart. issue remains.

doesn't seem to hurt anything, but i'd like to see it go. playing with the running processes list & killing likely candidates did not provide any clues.

keeping an eye out here...

P3 had said a while ago that if you do the wipe data / factory restore several times in the recovery that it will fix the issue

I took the plunge and wiped data/cache like three time each. I had to re-setup my screens, but all my apps automatically redownloaded this time. Much easier than I thought it would be. Oh, the constant sync icon is now gone, which was the whole point.

update...

i had originally followed the P3 install instructions to the letter, including renaming updater.apk to prevent OTA.

for grins, i renamed it back...reboot & voila, sync icon gone. no wipe/reset necessary.

hmm.
