Help Constantly losing 3G network on 4G Charge

I live in a 3G only area. I didn't see this as a problem considering the Samsung Charge can utilize 3G just as fine...or so I thought. My phone constantly goes from 3G with the arrows to 3G with the D...to 1x to no service at all. No matter where I go it has done this since I got it...CONSTANTLY...and I'm not exaggerating. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thats just the way the phone is. I called Verizon to complain about it and they said its a 4g phone and that is what they are focusing on. They also said they were unaware of any issues.
