Contact and Google - Syncing

I am sure I could find this if I really thought about it but here it goes.
I have all my contacts entered into Google and they are all labeled into Groups. How do I choose only certain people/groups to be synced to my phone. There are some people I don't want to delete but don't want to see in my phone all the time. Thanks.

The only way I know is to take them out of your contacts on google. Or put them in another google account so you can still have them if needed later on.

Oops... except for GangBook-group contact manager, which I am not compelled to try.

Go to Contacts>Settings>Display Options and uncheck all groups you want hidden.

Having to do that over and over is exactly what led me to Groupy.
