Contact backup Vcard

Hi,

i have recently backed up my desire as i was getting a memory problem and was advised to return it to factory settings. it seemed to have worked and i backed up my contacts onto the sd card using the software within the people application.

i have tried to import the contacts and it has partially worked but a number of the fields have not been imported. they are there cos i copied the vcard onto my pc and opened it and it shows all the numbers, emails and address' but when i have imported them back into people it only shows the numbers and no address'. can i do anything about this as i really dont want to manually add all the address', i have over 900 contacts and many have address'.

is there an app that might help to import all the fields??

thanks

I assume you prefer that your contacts aren't in Googles contacts ;)

If not, you could import the contacts file to your Google account on PC. Then sync with the phone. On the phone, in People, you could copy the Google contacts to Phone contacts.

An other way might be MyPhone Explorer.
Client app on the phone, host on PC, it is a very good sync tool. I think, it could import your contacts file on PC and sync the contacts with the phone, but I'm not sure.
Maybe worth a try ...

BTW, on my HTC One X, I tranfered my contacts from my old HTC Sensation via that .vcf file without any problems :)

hi, thanks.

i dont mind where they are to be honest. so long as they are backed up and i can easily get to the information on each card. will try google contacts, thanks!

hi...think i have sorted it using google contacts...i deleted all of them off the server and then reinstated them all from the vCard as otherwise i ended up with duplicate entries.

when i now save a contact on my phone i will always use the add to google option rather than sim/phone and hopefully it will keep them updated. google kept all the fields as well so no missing data.

thanks
