Help Contact - Display name

[gnarlyDUCK]

Is there anyway to give someone a nickname for the Display Name field?
First Name: John
Last Name: Doe
Display Name (drop down menu): John Doe; Doe, John.

Is there anyway to add another entry for display name such as a nickname "J.D."

I haven't tried to use it but on google.com/contacts (or the contacts link in gmail) you can add a Nickname field. Right under Birthday there is a button that says Add and Nickname is one of the fields you can add. I am not sure if this will show up on the phone in any useful manner but it's worth a shot.
