Help contact icons ???

Another noob question,.....

I was looking at my contact list and noticed a green dot by a contact. Looked at it today and it's a blue dot now. I'd thought that it meant that that person was online but I'm sure that they weren't. Totally baffled.

I believe the blue dot also has a clock symbol in it which indicates that the person is either away or busy. Green means they are available to chat.

so does it mean that they are online or just able to google chat. and thanks for the repley TS

to me it means that they are not available to chat, but may be online but in a state of being busy or away from the pc/phone.
