Help Contact sync/dialing prefixes

jgalak

Lurker
Kind of complex issue. Here's the situation:

My phone is set up to permanently block caller ID (since I mostly call clients whom I don't want having my cell number). However, when I call friends and family, I just add a prefix to the number, "*82", and that unblocks the caller ID for that one call.

On my last phone (a Blackberry), I simply programmed in that prefix to those people in my contact list who I wanted to seem my number.

Now, with the Thuderbolt, I have the phone sync contacts with my gmail account, and I use gSyncit to sync my gmail account with my outlook at work (no exchange server). Works well, except for one problem:

Somewhere in all this syncing, the "*" in the "*82" prefix keeps getting deleted - I'll add it back in on the phone, and later (sometimes minutes, sometimes days) there's no "*" again. Very annoying.

I'm hoping someone has some advice on how to resolve it - either fixing the sync so it doesn't delete the "*" or find a better way to selectively use the prefix.

Option 2 is actually better - if there was some way to tell the phone, for example, to just add "*82" to anyone in the "friends" group, this would be resolved, and make it easier to use the phone anyway. If there's a native way to do it on the Thunderbolt (or with a 3rd party app), I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks,
jgalak.
