Help Contacts do not Sync since Aug 2nd

Contacts do not Sync since Aug 2nd. Calendar and email syncs just fine. I can tell it to sync and it doesn't. I've cleared data and cache then uninstalled updates, still no sync. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What kind of account? (FB, Google, ???)

Have you gone to Settings->Accounts & Sync->(Account) and made sure the Sync Contacts box is checked? What happens if you click Sync Now here, do you see the sync circle popup go around and then disappear?

Also, August second is the day after ICS released... is this when you got it? Have you done a factory reset of your phone since you got ICS? If not, I would highly recommend it.

Google account.

Sync contacts box is checked, sync icon is gray, I touch the icon and it rotates then comes back gray with the same update date.

I have resisted the factory reset because of all the work involved with re-installing apps.

Normally I would say to delete the account and add it back in, but the Google account cannot be done this way, a factory reset is the only way to clear it.

Apps are typically what causes weird issues when going from GB to ICS, I would recommend the factory reset, then do the basic setup, open Play Store once, then go on a PC to the Play Store, My Applications, and select Install for the applications you need and they will be pushed to the phone, just make sure to run each application at least once so it can finish it's setup.
