Help Contacts exist, but are invisible

I just moved from my HTC Droid Incredible 4G to a Galaxy S4. So far it's great, but my contacts list is wonky.

For example, I have a contact called "John" on my Gmail account. John has a phone number. When I go into the phone and begin dialing John's number, John's contact entry appears. And if I type in 5646, John's contact entry correctly appears.

When I enter the Contacts screen, there's no listing for John in the alphabetical list. But if I type in "john", he shows up. I confirmed that "Contacts to display" is set to "all contacts". The setting of "show only contacts with numbers" doesn't make a difference either.

I've had this problem with each Android phone I own (Droid, Thunderbolt, Droid Incredible, and now GS4), and it's usually just a matter of tweaking the settings until the contact appears. Unfortunately I've now tweaked every setting on the GS4 but the contact remains MIA.

Any suggestions?

On the contacts screen, tap options (left softkey) then "select contacts to display" and either set it to ALL or Gmail account. Dont forget to Sync after it's set. check your account settings and make sure contacts are set to sync.

Via this menu you also have import/export if you need to export your contacts to your sim and import to samsung account or your phone (contacts on the phone help the contacts app load slightly faster ;))
